Mental health training programmes for staff in primary care and education

Primary care staff and those working in education manage adults and children/young people suffering with mental health issues on a daily basis. Both primary care staff and teachers get very little training or guidance on how to manage these situations and can feel ill-equipped to detect and manage adults or children/young people in distress or suffering with a mental health disorder.

The A&D Network has supported delivery of training programmes called PPiPCare in primary care (in collaboration with all IAPT services) and PPEPCare in schools (in collaboration with CAMHS) for the past eight years. These sessions have been well received.
