What we did

Care worker and resident garden imageIn 2015/16 East Berkshire Clinical Commissioning Group noted a rise in urinary tract infection (UTI) hospital admissions from care homes.

A collaborative working group including care homes, the CCG and the Oxford Patient Safety Collaborative was established aiming to reduce UTI admissions through quality improvement methodology.

Baseline data was gathered from each care home taking part in the project for two months using safety crosses.
